    Access: foot and horse

  • Authorized Species: all legal species, but the following are common:
  1. Big Gameblack bear and deer
  2. Small Game: tree squirrel
  3. Upland Game Birds: blue grouse and California and mountain quail
  • Camping:
  1. Availability: May through October, depending on snow conditions
  2. Location: overnight camping is allowed in the Golden Trout Wilderness, which has five public campground
  3. Permit: required and available from the USFS Tule Ranger District Office in Springville
  • Dogs: link to our summary of regulations for hunting dogs and training
  • Fishing: allowed in back-county lakes and in three ponds, which are stocked with trout for public fishing
  • Horses & Pack Animals: NOT allowed in the campgrounds but may be kept in the public corrals near Shake Camp
  • Hunting Days: during open season except that the forest is closed during the winter
  • Off-Road Vehicles: limited and NOT recommended
  • Permits: see “Horses” above
