Rector Reservoir Wildlife Area

On this page, you’ll find area-specific regulations that supplement and/or supersede general use regulations, both of which are a condition for use and incorporated by reference into the entry permit. You’ll also find links to supporting law, websites, directions, hunt maps, and a suggestion box.

Warning shot!!! Remember, federal law also applies (link to our summary of the Migratory Bird Treat Act.) and additional may be located at the Wildlife Area that you can’t find anywhere else (e.g. check station, information kiosks, permits, reservations, road signs, etc.)


General Info

    Directions

    Authorized species: all legal species, but CDFW emphasizes-

  1. Big game: deer and pig
  2. Small game mammals: rabbit and tree squirrel
  3. Upland game birds: Turkey, California quail, and dove

Hunting

    Wild Turkey Hunting

    Camping: NOT allowed (including trailers)

  • Closures: watershed owned by the Dept. of Veterans Affairs and NO hunting from the day after spring turkey season closes to the opening of archery deer season
  • Fires: NOT allowed
  • Hunt days: daily from the opening of archery season through the last day of spring turkey season

    This land is not clearly marked! Private land owners are not hunter friendly!
    If you don’t have permission or don’t know the boundaries stay above the cliffs. Any land lower down is private!
